TRACK AND FIELD 🏃♀️
Early last week, Woodlawn High hosted the BCPS outdoor track and field county championships. The meet lasted Monday and Tuesday and had plenty of notable results. Click this link or scroll down for a full recap of how the top teams performed.

Woodlawn and Hereford have been crowned the Girls and Boys Spring 2026 Baltimore County outdoor track and field champions after a meet early last week. The Bulls’ boys team led with 97 points, an impressive margin over second place Dulaney who finished with 58.33. The Warrior women’s win margin was not as large, as they narrowly beat out the Hereford girls 127.33 to 126.
In singles track events, Woodlawn did not take gold in a single event, but won silver and bronze in several others. Ohio University commit Anjela Fitzhugh was the team’s best singles athlete, placing as the runner up in the 100 and 200, while two others won bronze in the same events and two other runners placed second and third in the 400. Ohio State commit Destiny Coleman was the queen of the hurdles, taking gold in both the 100 and 300 hurdles. The Warrior team also won the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400 relays.
Virginia Tech commit Ben Wheeler led Hereford in their winning effort on the Men’s side, but he wasn’t the only Bull who won gold. Wheeler took the top spot in the 400m, while sophomore Eli Aitken won the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m. Aitken and Wheeler were the final two in the Bulls’ second place 4x400m team. Aitken won his fourth gold medal of the day alongside Nate Berkowitz, Jack Earp, and Matthew Lowing in the 4x800. Junior Reed Shilling and senior Corban Jones combined for three medals (two gold and one silver) in the field events too.
Regional championships will take place at regional sites throughout the state from Monday through Thursday at regional sites throughout the state, including Milford Mill Academy and Hereford High in Baltimore County. The state championship meet is slated for Thursday, May 21, at Bowie State University.

GIRLS LACROSSE🥍
The other lacrosse county title game was not as close, as Dulaney also took down Catonsville, this time 15-3. The Lions got out to an 8-1 start by the end of the first quarter, and the clock stayed running beginning in the third. Eight athletes contributed to Dulaney’s 15 goals, including Saint Joseph’s commit Sarah Crowley with a team-leading five.
Eight BCPS teams will play on Monday with a chance at six regional championships. Western Tech traveling to Pikesville and Kenwood hosting Perry Hall are the lone games featuring two BCPS opponents. Harford County will prove to be a hot spot, with two teams playing on the road and one HarCo team traveling to BCPS. The state quarterfinals are set for Wednesday, followed by the semifinals at neutral sites on Friday and Saturday.

BOYS LACROSSE🥍
The Towson Generals won the county boys lacrosse championship in a one-goal game over Catonsville last week. The Comets opened the game with a 5-0 lead after the first quarter, but the momentum began to flip for Towson after Max Kosmides put his team on the board. It took until the fourth quarter for Hudson Arrup’s second goal of the night that game Towson their first lead of the game. Catonsville scored with 34 seconds left, but it was not enough, and the Generals secured their second-consecutive county title 10-9.
On Monday, nine Baltimore County teams will be competing for regional titles across six games. The three games between two county opponents will consist of Towson and Parkville, Catonsville and Dulaney, and Perry Hall against Dundalk. The state bracket will also kick off this week, with the quarterfinals set for Wednesday.

SOFTBALL 🥎
The Dulaney Lions and Eastern Tech Mavericks met at CCBC Catonsville to face off in the county championship game last week. Dulaney’s Lila Gordon opened the game with a triple, and later scored her team’s first run, which alone would have proven to be enough. The Lions went on to sweep the innings, scoring ten runs in five innings, beating the Mavericks 10-0 to cement a perfect regular season, and their first county title since 2007.
Monday will see over a dozen BCPS teams compete in the regional semifinals as they look to punch their tickets to the regional championship game. The regional title games are set for Wednesday, followed by the first round of the state playoffs on Friday and Saturday.
