Looking Ahead to State Championship Week and Reviewing Regional Championships Across the County

BOYS LACROSSE🥍
Following a quarterfinals win over the Chesapeake Cougars and a semifinals win over Linganore, the second-seeded Towson Generals are the final boys lacrosse team standing from Baltimore County! They are set to face top-ranked Severna Park on Tuesday under the lights at Mustang Stadium at Stevenson University. Hereford, Dulaney, and Perry Hall were the other BCPS teams to make the state bracket, but each of the three lost in the quarterfinals. Stay tuned to CSZ for a full recap from Tuesday’s 3A state championship.

GIRLS LACROSSE🥍
No BCPS teams are still alive heading into girls’ lacrosse state championship week. Pikesville entered the 1A bracket as the three seed, falling to Elkton 17-10. Towson was the bottom seed in the 3A, losing on the road to top-ranked Severna Park, Eight seed Perry Hall upset Eleanor Roosevelt in the 4A quarterfinals, but lost to Urbana in the semis, ending their season. Congratulations to Perry Hall on making it the farthest in the county! Stay tuned to CSZ for full coverage on the lacrosse state championships.

TRACK AND FIELD 🏃♀️
Last week, 18 BCPS schools saw a track and field athlete win a gold medal at their respective regional competition. Across 67 events where a gold medal was won, over 20 athletes won two or more. Click this link to read about the immense success that BCPS track runners and field athletes had at the regional championships. The state championships are set for later this week at Morgan State University with 1A and 2A schools competing Thursday, 3A and 4A schools competing Friday, and all schools competing on Saturday, per the MPSSAA website.

SOFTBALL 🥎
Dulaney and Towson are the final two softball teams alive heading into state semifinals action this Tuesday. Click this link to read about Dulaney’s dominant win over Blair. Towson hosted the Howard Lions on Friday where they won in an 11-1 run rule finish. Going into the second round, Towson sits as the two-seed in the 3A class, the highest remaining, and Dulaney as the top 4A team. Both of the two are set to face off Tuesday at Bachman Field. The Generals will take on three-seed Northern (Calvert) on field six at 4:00 p.m. while the Lions face four-seeded Urbana at 7:00 p.m. on field four. Sparrows Point also advanced into the state bracket, falling to Huntington on the road in the quarterfinals. Stay tuned to CSZ for full coverage from the softball state semifinals

BASEBALL ⚾
The two teams atop the county, Hereford and Dulaney, are the final two alive as fight for the 2A and 4A state titles. Click this link to read more about how Hereford got revenge on a 2025 state semifinals lost this year. The Lions breezed through their game against Duval on Saturday, winning 16-2. They’ll move on to face the Whitman Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Shirley Povich Field, while the Bulls, now the highest remaining 2A seed, will face Fallston at 4:00 p.m. at Joe Cannon Stadium. Towson and Pikesville entered the 3A and 1A brackets both as the bottom seed. The Generals fell to Stephen Decatur, while Pikesville almost pulled off the upset over Patterson Mill.
