Towson Generals head coach Randy Dase has been a mainstay in their athletic department for decades. This past weekend, the Generals honored Dase’s legacy, naming their new athletic field in his honor. The focus of Saturday afternoon’s boys’ soccer rivalry game between Towson and Dulaney wasn’t what was happening on the field. It was what happened before the game off the field.

Longtime Generals coach Randy Dase was honored in a ceremony before Towson faced off with the Lions on the newly renamed Randy Dase Field. Dase has coached over 100 seasons of athletics as an alum of Towson High, leading soccer, lacrosse, and basketball teams to 10 total state championship titles.

During the pre-game ceremony, former Towson lacrosse coach Rick Brocato spoke, honoring what Dase has given to the school and the community. “[Your legacy] is measured by the thousands of lives you’ve changed,” Brocato said. “It’s only fitting that your name now becomes a permanent part of this community.”

Despite the dreary weather in Baltimore County, Towson faced the Dulaney Lions on the Generals’ turf field, looking for their second win of the season and first since the renaming. However, the game would not shake out in Towson’s favor.

The first goal scored on the renamed field benefitted Dulaney, coming from Noah Kunicky in the 21st minute. That score would prove to be the only one of the game. The Generals played a hard game, especially towards the end of the second half trying to equalize, but they could not find the back of the net. Dulaney earned the 1-0 win, improving to 3-2 and snapping a two-game losing streak.

Towson had a strong 2025 season, but it’s been tough sledding for Coach Dase and company this fall. In his 38th year leading the program, the Generals have accrued a 1-6 record, with the lone win coming on September 18 at home against the Park Bruins. They’ll look to bounce back as they hit the road on Tuesday to face Perry Hall.

Franklin, Eastern Tech, and Towson remain atop Baltimore County’s standings with perfect 4-0 records. The Indians lead the charge with a +132 point differential (143-12), followed by the Mavericks at +113 (161-48) and the Generals at +101 (121-20). This week’s slate has several high-intensity games including Franklin vs. Milford Mill, Sparrows Point vs. Eastern Tech, and more!

Last week, the Randallstown Rams and Hereford Bulls faced off at Randallstown High. Last season, Hereford took down the Rams 15-12 at home, but this year, with a new head coach and an overall younger roster, the result was not the same. 2026 has not gotten off to the start that Randallstown football has wanted, but they broke through in a big way in week four, avenging a 2025 regular season loss, earning their first win of the season in a 32-22 win over Hereford.

Early in the first, the Hereford defense recovered a fumble at Randallstown’s 35-yard line, setting up Yale commit Reed Shilling to run it in on a jet sweep, putting the Bulls ahead. Randallstown immediately responded, returning the ensuing kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown, but a failed two-point try kept them down by a point.

Four minutes into the second, Randallstown connected on a deep shot to an open receiver for a 55-yard receiving touchdown, and after a successful two-point conversion this time, they led Hereford 14-7. That lead was then extended on a six-yard rushing touchdown with three minutes to play, making it a 20-7 Randallstown lead at halftime.

The Rams continued to grow their lead into the third quarter. Early in the quarter on second and four from the Hereford 15, Randallstown completed another touchdown drive with a 15-yard rushing touchdown. After the score, the Rams fell to 1/4 on two-point conversion attempts, as the try was thrown out of bounds.

Hereford finally responded with their first touchdown of the game as quarterback Brandon Zetlmeisl threaded the needle through two Randallstown defensive backs for a 25-yard touchdown, making it a 26-14 game after three.

On the second play of the fourth quarter, Randallstown extended their lead with a 73-yard rushing touchdown from No. 0, putting the game on ice. Reed Shilling caught a 15-yard touchdown later in the quarter, and then completed the octopus on a run up the middle. Shilling’s octopus would be the final points this game had as Tim Brown secured his first win as Randallstown’s head coach, beating Hereford 32-22.

The Rams will look to improve to 2-3 next week as they’ll hit the road for the first time since week one, traveling to Catonsville to face the Comets. Meanwhile, Hereford, now 1-3 and on a two-game losing streak, will look to bounce back against Parkville at home on October 2.

Franklin and Lansdowne stay unbeaten a month into the season! Both teams played just one game last week with the Indians defeating the Overlea Falcons 9-0 on the road while the Vikings took down Chesapeake, also on the road, 10-0.

On Monday, Eastern Tech and Sparrows Point, both 3-1-1, will face off in the best BCPS game of the day. 3-2-1 Catonsville will also travel to Howard County on Monday to face the 3-0-1 Glenelg Gladiators.

Great games continue into Tuesday as the undefeated Franklin Indians will host the 3-1 Carver Wildcats. Stay tuned to CSZ for updates on all the action throughout the next couple days and this week as a whole!

CSZ would like to clarify a mistake sent out in last week’s newsletter. Based on our site, it appeared that Pikesville had lost it’s first game of the season 30-8 against Loch Raven, dropping them to 2-1 and eighth place in the county. However, it was discovered that the score was flipped on our site, and the Panthers took down the Raiders 30-8 instead. That error has now been corrected. We would like to apologize to Pikesville High and it’s flag football team for the mistake. We strive to be correct in our reporting, and if you ever encounter a score or standings error, please reach out to the email below.

With that said, Baltimore County flag football as a whole has been dominant this season with SEVEN undefeated teams through four weeks. The Panthers lead the way with a 4-0 record and a +133 point differential (154-21), followed by Eastern Tech at +100 (120-20) and Dundalk at +94 (101-7).

Randallstown, Milford Mill, and Catonsville have played three games without a loss while Hereford has also gone undefeated in its two-game season.

Pikesville remains atop the BCPS volleyball standings at 6-0. The Panthers avenged a regional championship loss at home against CMIT-North, beating the Tigers in five sets, and followed that up with a 3-1 win over Western Tech on Wednesday.

Dundalk and Parkville also remain undefeated through a month, sitting at 5-0 and 3-0 respectively. The Knights have a challenge on their hands to kick off their week, hosting 3-3 Eastern Tech. Other strong games this week include Wednesday’s match between 2-1 Milford Mill and 2-1 Franklin, followed by the game of the week on Friday between 4-1 Hereford and 6-1 Catonsville!

With Hereford’s win over Sparrows Point at the top of the standings, field hockey is the first BCPS sport to not have any remaining undefeated teams! The Bulls have established themselves as one of the best teams in the county, dominating the then undefeated Pointers 4-0.

This week features several solid match ups, headlined by Wednesday’s rivalry game between Hereford and the 3-2 Dulaney Lions. That will be followed by a game on Thursday featuring the undefeated City College Knights traveling to Eastern Tech to face the 3-2 Mavericks.

Overlea’s 6th annual flying Falcon invitational is set for Saturday, October 3, and will feature seven Baltimore County teams. Head to Athletic.net for more info both before the meet and for live results during and after the race!
