Franklin and Catonsville lead the county with perfect 4-0 records, but they are not the only undefeated teams BCPS has to offer.

Dundalk, Sparrows Point, Chesapeake, and Pikesville have also not lost any games. The Pointers and Bayhawks lead that list with overall records of 3-0-1. Last week, the county totalled nine undefeated teams, but as of Monday, Sept. 21, that number has fallen to six.

After starting their season with back-to-back losses, Hereford opened their county schedule with a home game against the Perry Hall Gators. The Bulls poured it on early, scoring three first half goals and going on to win their first game of the season. Click this link or scroll down to read more about how the game played out!

On Tuesday, the Hereford Bulls opened their home schedule, winning their first game of the season 3-1 over the visiting Perry Hall Gators.

Coming into the game, the visiting Gators were 0-2, losing their opening night game 4-0 on the road against C. Milton Wright. On Sept. 8, Perry Hall’s second loss came in a 1-0 loss at Dundalk.

Hereford entered on 10 days of rest, having dropped a pair of games in a tournament on Sept. 5. The Bulls opened their season with a 3-2 loss against Harford Tech, and later that afternoon, fell 2-1 against the Bel Air Bobcats.

The Bulls dominated possession early in the first half. 10 minutes in, Hereford took a corner kick, but a shot soon after was blocked by Perry Hall keeper Aiden Gutierrez. Over the next 15 minutes, the Gators’ offense gradually had more time of possession, but Hereford shut that down soon after.

In the 21st minute, junior Ben Dull broke through Perry Hall’s defense on the left side of the field and quickly took a shot. The try looked to be heading out-of-bounds right but senior Ethan Costa tapped the ball into the net to put the Bulls ahead 1-0.

Five minutes later, Hereford found themselves with another opportunity. Hereford’s No. 13 was streaking down the right side of the field before centering a ball to No. 9. After fighting through traffic, he set up Carlos Valdez to give Hereford a two goal lead.

In the 29th minute, Perry Hall had their first real scoring chance on a long shot from 20 yards out, but the attempted header sailed over the net. In the 32nd, Hereford extended their lead to 3-0 as Valdez scored his second of the half, assisted by sophomore Landon Wood, from just a few feet in front of the goal.

Less than a minute later, Gator senior Tommy Sowis sent a penalty kick into the bottom right corner of the net for Perry Hall’s first goal of the match and to make it a 3-1 game at halftime.

The second half breezed past as neither team added anything to the scoreboard. Hereford came out of this one with the second straight win of the season, defeating Perry Hall 3-1.

Later in the week, the Bulls won another pair of games, taking down Winters Mill 3-0 at home and Towson 2-1 on the road. The Gators haven’t played since their game at Hereford.

Hereford, now with a winning record, will look to keep the momentum going on Tuesday at home against the Boys Latin Lakers, while Perry Hall, now 0-3, searches for their first win of the fall on the road Tuesday against the Parkville Knights.

Catonsville remains atop the county volleyball standings with a perfect 5-0 record, followed by Dundalk, Pikesville, and Parkville, all also undefeated.

The Comets dominated their schedule last week, beating Dulaney and Towson on the road on back-to-back days 3-1 and 3-0. Catonsville senior middle blocker Sanai Porter announced her commitment to St. Mary’s College of Maryland on Sunday, proving that things keep getting better for Catonsville. They’ll start their week at home against Eastern Tech on Wednesday, followed by a trip to Calvert County on Friday to face the Northern Patriots.

Neither the Owls nor Panthers have yet to lose a set this season, outscoring their opponents 12 sets to none. Dundalk’s lone match this week will be a road contest against Patapsco while Pikesville will play a pair. Their schedule will start with a regional championship rematch against CMIT-North on Tuesday, followed by a home game against Western Tech on Wednesday. Three teams last week had their first loss of the fall, leaving Franklin, Lansdowne, Hereford, and Sparrows Point as the final unbeaten teams.

The Indians enter this week on two weeks of rest, now having played since Sept. 8, when they won a pair of games (8-0 at Parkville and 8-1 at Kenwood). The Vikings earned a narrow 3-2 win at Pikesville last week to stay undefeated, a record they’ll look to keep at Chesapeake on Thursday.

The Bulls played a pair of games last week, defeating Perry Hall 2-1 and drawing 0-0 at Eastern Tech. Their schedule includes John Carroll on Tuesday and Sparrows Point on Thursday. Speaking of Point, the Pointers took down Catonsville 1-0 last week, and they will, in addition to their game against Hereford, host Perry Hall on Tuesday.

Franklin, Towson, and Eastern Tech continue to dominate as we are a third of the way through the regular season.

The Indians, after scoring 42 points in the first half against Parkville, dropped 44 in a 38-point win over the Owings Mills Eagles. The Generals outscored their weeks two and three opponents 87-6, beating Lansdowne 44-0 and Western Tech 43-6. The Mavericks scored the most out of any remaining undefeated team, shutting out Lansdowne 47-0 on the road.

Looking ahead to week four, Friday’s game between Loch Raven and Sparrows Point looks to be the best of the upcoming schedule. Perry Hall and Parkville, who both enter the week 0-3, will look for their first win as they face each other on Saturday afternoon.

Based on available schedules, Eastern Tech leads the way at 3-0, but six other teams also remain undefeated, including five at 2-0.

The Mavericks have won a pair of rivalry games in the last two weeks, taking down Perry Hall 20-12 before shutting out Sparrows Point 24-0 on the road. Eastern Tech has another good matchup this week as they’ll host the 2-1 Kenwood Bluebirds who scored a county-high 63 against Patapsco in week one.

Aside from Tuesday’s game between the Bluebirds and the Mavericks, week four will also see 2-0 Parkville host 2-1 Pikesville on Wednesday, followed by a game between Towson and Loch Raven on Friday as both teams look to make it to .500.

Sparrows Point is the final team left undefeated in Baltimore County, holding a perfect 3-0 record after three weeks. Last week, the Pointers took down Hereford 4-0 at home on Wednesday for their third win of the season. The team is guaranteed to stay undefeated through next week as their next game won’t come until Friday, October 2 against the Towson Generals.

Eastern Tech and Pikesville have also had strong starts to their seasons. The Mavericks and Panthers played each other in each team’s lone game last week, a contest that ET won in a 9-1 rout. Eastern has a pair of games this week, starting with a home contest against Bel Air on Wednesday before traveling to Carver to face the Wildcats on Friday. Pikesville has the week off to regroup after the loss, but they’ll return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at home against Lansdowne.

It’s Bull Run week! The Hereford Bulls will host one of the biggest meets the state has to offer all year. A whopping 102 teams will compete including 12 from Baltimore County. Athletic.net will have live results as they happen during Saturday’s event.
