BASEBALL

Two Baltimore County teams have advanced to the state championships! Before this weekend’s weather, the title games were set to take place at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen on May 22 and 23, but all four state championship games are now slated for May 25. Hereford will play in the 2A state championship against Kent Island and Dulaney will face Urbana in the 4A title game. First pitch for the two games are set for 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., but could be impacted by previous games and forecasted weather. Stay tuned to CSZ for full coverage from Ripken Stadium and the baseball state championships!

TRACK AND FIELD 🏃‍♀️

The track and field state championships began at Morgan State University last week with some events already completed, including competitions on the track and in the field. The majority of events will be ran on May 25 at Morgan State. Competition is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. A recap of each state champion from every class will be released in the coming days and will also be available in next week’s newsletter. Stay tuned to CSZ for coverage from Monday’s events!

TENNIS 🎾

Maryland’s high school state championship tennis matches have had no shortage of reschedulings in the last few days. Originally, all matches were set to be played at the Wilde Lake Tennis Club. The 3A and 4A state quarterfinals and semifinals were taking place on May 21, the 1A and 2A quarterfinals and semifinals were set for May 22, with all state championships and consolation games on May 23.

After last week’s weather, all 1A and 2A events, including the quarters, semis, championships, and consolation games will be played May 25. The 3A and 4A championships and consolation games will also be on May 25 with matches beginning at 9:00 a.m. Monday’s activity will now be split between the Wilde Lake Tennis Club, the Indoor Courts at Long Reach, along with River Hill and Howard High Schools. Click here for a breakdown on where specific matches will be played according to the MPSSAA.

What happens when you throw out the GTM playbook

That investor was wrong. Gamma is now worth $2B, with 50M users and more than half their growth driven by word of mouth.

They're one of 6 AI-native startups in HubSpot for Startups' free Bold Bets Playbook. Replit grew revenue 50x after half the team pushed back on the strategy. Ramp generated 100M+ views from a single stunt. Clay's co-founder wouldn't hang up a sales call until the prospect DMed him in Slack.

Each one took a GTM risk most founders would never greenlight. Each one paid off.

SOFTBALL 🥎

In Tuesday’s semifinal round, the final two Baltimore County softball teams were both eliminated. Dulaney, the top 4A seed, was upset by fourth-seeded Urbana 6-3 while Towson lost to Northern Calvert 15-2 in the 3A bracket. This means that Catonsville’s win in 2021 will remain the most recent softball state champion from BCPS. The 2026 state championships were originally scheduled for May 22-23, but have been moved to May 25 due to weather over the weekend. Stay tuned to CSZ for updates on the action set to start at 10:00 a.m. on Memorial Day.

BOYS LACROSSE🥍

The MPSSAA boys lacrosse championships were played last week at Mustang Stadium at Stevenson University. The lone Baltimore County team to reach the final week of games was the Towson boys team who fell 15-2 against Severna Park. GIRLS LACROSSE🥍

The MPSSAA girls lacrosse championships were played last week at Mustang Stadium at Stevenson University. Unfortunately, no Baltimore County teams reached the final game, meaning Dulaney’s 4A state title a decade ago will remain the most recent BCPS championship win.
