CROSS COUNTRY (FALL 2025)
Last fall, Baltimore County saw the Hereford Bulls’ girls cross country team win the Maryland 2A state championship, scoring 62 points as a team. Carver’s Maren Blanks finished the state championship meet with her best time ever to win the state gold medal as an individual. 1A Boys: Carver senior Ian Pawluczkowycz ran his personal best, placing him 10th in the 1A in 17:28.09. Eitan Beck was the next finisher from Baltimore County, placing 27th with a season best 18:16.76. After Beck, BCPS didn’t have a finisher until 51st place, as Hiyall Fitsum set his personal best at 19:23.72. The Wildcats finished as Baltimore County’s best team in 12th place overall with 303 points.
1A Girls: Wildcat athletes took each of the county’s top three spots in the 1A girls’ race. Senior Maren Blanks set her personal best in her final meet, winning the gold medal by 10 seconds, finishing in 20:31.38. Junior Anna Bibo placed sixth in 21:44.03, and junior Cara Domsic set her personal best of 24:34.77 to earn 38th place. Unsurprisingly, the Wildcats were the top team in the county, earning 130 points.
2A Boys: On his home turf, sophomore Eli Aitken was the top finisher from Baltimore County and fourth overall in the state, running a 16:49.66. Aitken’s teammate James Wyatt finished 10th in the 2A class in 17:19.33, and fellow Bull Katahdin McClure completed Hereford’s sweep for the county’s top spots, finishing 24th in a season best 17:46.9. Hereford finished as the runner-up to River Hill, taking the silver medal as a team with 110 points.
2A Girls: Baltimore County’s top two finishers each came from the school hosting the state championship meet. Hereford’s Dempsey Nelson and Charlie Brill finished third and fourth in the state with times of 20:11 and 20:11.75. Eastern Tech freshman Evette Otieno set her personal best to place fifth in the state, finishing in 20:27.82. The Bulls won the state gold medal as a team with 62 points, led by Nelson, Brill, and Kylie Jacobson who finished in sixth place.
3A Boys: Catonsville’s Sebastian Wautel and Matthew Foster were the county’s top finishers in the 3A class. Wautel placed 38th in 17:42.76 with Foster right behind in 17:43.98 to take 39th place. Towson junior Andrew Robinson won the county’s bronze medal but finished 46th overall with a final time of 17:46.88. Of 21 teams competing, Catonsville finished eighth with 247 team points.
3A Girls: Catonsville senior Olivia Virago’s 32nd place finish made her Baltimore County’s best. Towson freshman Emmalee Houston finished in 21:43.02 to earn 43rd place, and her teammate, Elaina Razon-Fernandez was the county’s next finisher, taking 86th place at 23:27.8. The Generals were the only BCPS team with a score, placing 17th of 20 with 408 points.
4A Boys: Oliver Katz set a season best 17:17.15 in the state championship, earning the senior 24th place in the 4A meet. Katz’s teammates Christopher Martin and Luke Sales were the county’s second and third best finishers with Martin placing 27th in 17:20.42 and Sales coming in 51st in 17:58.17. The Lions finished seventh place as a team with 193 points, well ahead of Parkville, the only other BCPS team in the top 20.
4A Girls: Dulaney’s Catherine Campbell set a season best of 20:27.13 to earn 12th place in the state and first in the county. Fellow Lion Nicole Lin set a season best of her own at 21:12.5 to earn 24th. Freshman Julia Hemler from Perry Hall earned 40th place at 21:37.47. The Lions were the only team to earn a score, finishing sixth in Maryland with 170 points.

INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD (WINTER 2025-26)
The indoor track and field state championship competition saw a pair of Baltimore County schools bring home state titles as a team! Woodlawn and Western Tech both earned a state championship with the Wolverines claiming the 1A girls’ title and the Warriors winning the 4A girls’ title. Boys 1A: Carver (1A #10: 13)
Wildcat senior Ian Pawluczkowycz earned the school’s highest place in any track event, winning the bronze medal in the 1600m in a personal best time of 4:32.17. Pawluczkowycz also placed sixth in the 3200m, finishing in 10:14.83. Junior Benjamin Arneklev was the team’s lone athlete to make the finals in a field event. Arneklev finished third in the high jump with a maximum distance of 6-feet-2-inches.
Girls 1A: Western Tech (1A State Champion: 60)
The Wolverines excelled in the day’s shortest events. Junior Fareedah Egbebi set a pair of personal bests to win silver medals in the 55m and 300m. Chelsea Williams also set a PB to win gold in the 300 while also placing fourth in the 55m. Western Tech’s 4x200m squad finished in second place, just 0.7 seconds behind the gold medal winner, but the Wolverines made up for the runner up finish, placing first in the 4x400m. Lily An won the team’s only field medal, placing second in the high jump at 5-feet-4-inches.
Boys 2A: Hereford (2A #3: 43)
Virginia Tech commit Ben Wheeler won the Bulls’ first medal, placing second in the 300m in 34.56 seconds. The team’s MVP was undoubtedly sophomore Eli Aitken, who won gold medals in the 800m (1:59.43) and 1600m (4:17.31), along with a silver medal in the 3200m (9:49.81). Hereford seniors Richard Wang and Corban Jones tied for seventh place in the pole vault, each reaching 11-feet-6-inches. Hereford’s 4x800m relay group was the only one that finished in the top ten of a relay event, placing fourth in 8:32.36.
Girls 2A: Hereford (2A #2: 62)
Junior Laylah Ensor won bronze in the 300m, finishing in a personal best time of 40.92 seconds. Dempsey Nelson excelled in the longer runs, finishing third in both the 1600m (5:11.37) and 3200m (11:24.26). The Bulls made the podium in each of the three relay races, with the 4x200m and 4x400m squads earning silver and the 4x800m team taking bronze. The team’s lone gold medal was won by Maddie Drylie who reached 11 feet in the pole vault. Senior Eliza Fox won a second field medal for Hereford, taking silver in the high jump.
Boys 3A: Towson (3A #7: 20)
Bronte Morton was the only one on the team to win a gold medal on the boys’ side. The UMBC commit and state record holder excelled in both the 55m dash and 55m hurdles, winning gold on both. Morton completed the dash in a personal best of 6.33 seconds to break the 3A state record before setting a second PB of 7.85 seconds in the hurdles.
Girls 3A: Towson (3A #5: 18)
Senior Aubree Lilly excelled in the sprints, placing in both the 55m dash and 300m. The VCU commit finished one hundredth of a second off of first place in the shorter race, finishing in 7.09 seconds. Lilly then won gold with room to spare in the 300 with a final time of 39.91 seconds.
Boys 4A: Dulaney (4A #7: 21)
Towson senior Jai Nettles earned the Generals’ lone medal on the track, placing second in the 55m hurdles. His 7.6 seconds, a personal best, was one hundredth of a second off the state champion. Jeremiah Dailey also set a personal best to win the team’s only field medal, as the senior threw a personal best of 50-feet-8.25-inches in the shot put to take third.
Girls 4A: Woodlawn (4A State Champion: 63)
The Warriors took each podium spot in the 55m as Destiny Coleman won gold in 6.98 seconds, Za’Nyi Robinson took silver in 7.09, and Anjela Fitzhugh placed third in 7.16. Coleman went on to win another two gold medals in the 300m, finishing in 39.22 seconds, and the 55m hurdles, finishing in 7.9. The Warriors also took second place in the 4x400m, finishing in 3:58.07.
OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD (SPRING 2026)
Woodlawn’s girls team captured their second state gold medal of the year while Hereford’s girls squad also won the top spot in the 2A class! Boys 1A: Pikesville & Western Tech (1A T#22: 11)
The Panthers’ best event of the day proved to be the 4x800m relay, as Ezra Richter, Eitan Beck, Jamison Pittman-Washington, and Teddy Forbes IV placed sixth in 8:28.95. Aside from the relay, Pikesville’s best performance belonged to Forbes, as the senior set a personal best of 1:58.87 in the 800m to finish fourth.
Western Tech’s 11 points mostly came from Chukuwubuikem Uzoukwu’s third place triple jump, earning the Wolverines over half of their team score. Senior Josiah Groce placed sixth in the discus with a max distance of 130-feet-4-inches, earning three more for WT.
Girls 1A: Western Tech (1A #4: 50)
The Wolverines’ girls team is led by Fareedah Egbebi, a junior who won a pair of gold medals. Egbebi won both the 100m dash, finishing in 12.06 seconds, and the 200m, setting a personal best at 24.82 seconds. Western Tech won another gold medal in the 4x200m without any seniors on the team, crossing the line in 1:44.35. Junior Lily An had a strong day in the field, placing second in the high jump at 5-feet-2-inches and fifth in the long jump at 15-feet-7.5-inches.
Boys 2A: Hereford (2A #3: 59)
The Bulls’ boys team won three silver medals and five bronzes throughout the championship meet. Ben Wheeler was responsible for a pair of the third place finishes. The Virginia Tech commit set his season best in the 200m at 21.69 seconds and the 400m at 48.23 seconds. Eli Aitken set a personal best to win bronze in the 800m and 3200m races, but set a personal best in the 1600m to win silver. Hereford also placed second as a group in the 4x800m relay. Reed Shilling was the lone Bull to medal in the field, setting personal bests in the shot put and discus to win both a bronze and silver medal.
Girls 2A: Hereford (2A State Champion: 76.5)
Dempsey Nelson excelled in the long range track events. The sophomore set personal bests to finish second in both the 1600m (5:00.86) and 3200m (11:00.85), along with a third personal best to finish third in the 800m. The Bulls’ relay teams also soared. Hereford’s 4x200m and 4x400m teams both earned silver medals, while the 4x800m team, consisting of Olivia Clark, Kylie Jacobson, Ana Laura Tosi, and Dempsey Nelson won the school’s only gold medal of the day. Seniors Maddie Drylie and Eliza Fox both finished on the podium in field events. Drylie placed second with a 10-feet pole vault while Fox tied for third in the high jump, mounting a five foot bar.
Boys 3A: Milford Mill (3A #4: 38)
Milford senior Damon Ferguson Jr. won the team’s first medal of the day, placing third in the 400m. The Millers won the vast majority of their points in the relay races. The team’s best relay was the 4x400m, as Ferguson along with Dante Brown, Ayokunle Osunkiyesi, and Damari Jackson won the school’s lone gold medal in 3:16.28. Milford also won a pair of silvers in the 4x100m (42.58 seconds) and 4x200m (1:28.66).
Girls 3A: Franklin (3A #11: 26)
Samantha Amauwa was responsible for 20 of Franklin’s 26 total points, as the junior won gold in both of the day’s shortest events. The school record holder finished the 100m dash in 11.78 seconds and the 200m in a personal best 24.1 seconds. Senior Trinity Jordan also medaled, winning bronze in the 300m hurdles in a personal best 44.86 seconds.
Boys 4A: Parkville (4A #10: 28.25)
26 of the Knights’ 28.25 points came in the long jump and triple jump. Rommel Marquez Jr. was responsible for 18 of Parkville’s points, placing first in the triple jump, setting a personal best 46-feet-9-inches, and finishing second in the long jump, leaping 22-feet-6.5-inches. Ikenna Ukpabi also medaled in the triple, finishing five inches behind Marquez to take the silver medal.
Girls 4A: Woodlawn (4A State Champion: 93.5)
The Baltimore County powerhouse continued last spring, winning their second running state title of the school year. Destiny Coleman won three individual medals, taking gold in the 100m dash and 100m hurdles along with silver in the 300m hurdles. The Warriors’ 4x100m, 4x200m, and 4x400m relay teams won three total gold medals, bringing the school’s spring total to five. Junior Aurlani Irvin also finished second in the pole vault, getting over a 11-foot-6-inch bar to bring home the medal.
